Overview

In the event the screen of your phone is damaged by Accident during the Period of Cover, rendering the screen broken or unusable, then you may obtain reimbursement from AIG HK for up to HK$1,000 of the amount you pay to have the screen repaired or replaced.

Claim Process

To make a claim, a Customer must do the following:

a.      Bring the Product with the damaged screen to the manufacturer’s Hong Kong authorised repair Centre for repair or replacement within 14 days of the Accident. The Customer must also bring the original purchase receipt for the purchase of the Product to the authorised repair centre.

b.      Download AIG HK’s claim form www.aig.com.hk/WilsonAD and complete the details requested, which include

- Customer’s full name

- phone number (will be set as claims number)

- email address and

- address for cheque issuing purpose

- language selection for SMS confirmation

c.       E-mail the following items to AIG HK at ew.hk@aig.com or fax it to  2892 0167:

i)        Completed Claim Form

ii)       A copy of purchase receipt for the Product;

iii)      A copy of the Inspection Report provided by manufacturer’s repair centre;

iv)      A copy of the Service Report & Receipt issued by manufacturer’s repair centre for the repair or replacement of your phone screen.

This information must be sent within 30 days of the Customer paying the Manufacturer’s Repair Centre to repair or replace the screen of the Product.

d.      The Customer must provide copies of all of the items in c) above; otherwise the claim cannot be processed.

e.      AIG HK will send the Customer an SMS message within 3 working days of receipt of the information in c. above, informing the Customer whether or not your claim is approved. If the claims is not approved, the SMS will ask the Customer to contact AIG HK directly for further explanation.

f.        If approved, AIG HK will make the claim payment by sending a cheque to the Customer within 15 working days of the approval in (e) above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Accidental Screen Damage Cover” means the insurance coverage for Accidental Screen Damage provided by AIG HK to Wilson Customers. The coverage is provided as an automatic add-on to the warranty coverage provided by Wilson in relation to certain mobile phones purchased from Wilson, or an automatic add-on when a Customer buys a Risk Management Tool (i.e. a transparent screen protection cover or a case) with a mobile phone from Wilson.

The coverage only applies if the screen of your phone is damaged by Accident. In this context, Accident means an unexpected and unintentional external event (e.g. dropping it).

Accidental Screen Damage does not include:

i)  normal wear and tear to the Mobile Phone;

ii) damage resulting from fire,

iii) theft or misplacement of the Mobile Phone;

iv) damage resulting from reckless, abusive, willful or intentional misconduct associated with handling and use of the Mobile Phone; or

v) any resultant damage to the Mobile Phone that arises from one or more conditions described in (i) to (iv) above;

Your Accidental Screen Damage Cover commences on the date of the purchase of your Product and ends three months from the date of your purchase.

In the event the screen of your phone is damaged by Accident during the Period of Cover, rendering the screen broken or unusable, then you may obtain reimbursement from AIG HK for up to HK$1000 of the amount you pay to have the screen repaired or replaced.

For this purpose, you must do the following: .

a.    Take your phone to the Manufacturer’s Hong Kong Repair Centre and pay for the screen to be replaced or repaired within 14 days of the date of the Accident.

b.    Download the Claim Form here www.aig.com.hk/WilsonAD and complete the details requested.

c.    E-mail the following items to this address ew.hk@aig.com to submit your claim:

i) Completed Claim Form

ii) Original Receipt for the purchase of your phone;

iii) Receipt for the cost of repair or replacement;

iv) Service Report & Receipt Copy issued by manufacturer’s repair centre

This must be done within 30 days of you paying the Manufacturer’s Repair Centre to repair or replace the screen of your phone.

d.    You must provide the items in c) above, otherwise your claim cannot be processed.

No. You must take it to the manufacturer’s Hong Kong official and authorised repair centre to be repaired or replaced. Approved repair centre list can be found from Wilson’s website http://www.wilsoncomm.com.hk/service?sid=26

HK$1,000. This means we will only reimburse you for up to HK$1000 of the cost or repairing or replacing your screen. If the repair or replacement costs are more than this, you will not be reimbursed for the excess amount.

No. Accidental Screen Damage Cover only applies to one event of accidental screen damage.

You must bring your damaged Mobile Phone for screen replacement or repair to the Manufacturer’s Hong Kong Authorised Repair Centre within 14 days of the date the on which the accident occurred, otherwise your claim will not be covered.

AIG HK will send you an SMS indicating that your claim has been approved. Cheque payment will be made by post to you soon after this.

If the screen of your Product is damaged by Accident and other parts of your Product are also damaged by Accident, then you will not be reimbursed for the costs of repairing or replacing the non-screen elements which have been damaged. If, in these circumstances, you do not wish to pay for the repair or replacement of the non-screen elements and this renders it impossible to repair or replace the screen, then there will be no coverage for the screen under this Accidental Screen Damage Cover.

Terms and Conditions

The phone you have purchased from Wilson Communications Limited (“Wilson”) comes with Accidental Screen Damage Cover, which has been purchased for you by Wilson from AIG Insurance Hong Kong Limited (“AIG HK”).

Period of Accidental Screen Damage Cover: Your Accidental Screen Damage Cover commences on the date of the purchase of your Product and ends:

a)              three (3) months from the date of your purchase; or

b)              six (6) months from the date of your purchase; or

The applicable period is referred to hereafter as the “Period of Cover”.

 

Parties to the Accidental Screen Damage Cover: AIG HK is the insurer which covers the cost of repairing or replacing the screen of your Product in the event of Accidental Screen Damage. You are the insured, for these purposes. For any enquiry on the Accidental Screen Damage Cover, please e-mail AIG HK at ew.hk@aig.com or call AIG HK’s Hotline at 8202 8699. Wilson’s only role is to pay the premium to AIG HK for this cover.

A.            In the event the screen of your Product is damaged by Accident (as defined in Section B below) occurring within the Period of Cover, rendering the screen broken or unusable, then you may obtain reimbursement from AIG HK for the cost you have paid for the repair or replacement of the screen, up to an amount of HK$1,000. However, Repair or replacement must be done in Hong Kong by manufacturer’s repair centre within 14 days of the date of Accident otherwise your claim will not be covered. B.            To be eligible for a claim, the screen damage must have been caused by an Accident, meaning an unexpected and unintentional external event (e.g. dropping it) that arises from normal daily usage of the Product. Accidental Screen Damage does not include:

i)              normal wear and tear to the Product; 

ii)             damage resulting from fire,  

iii)            theft or misplacement of the Product; 

iv)            damage resulting from reckless, abusive, willful or intentional misconduct associated with handling and use of the Product; or

v)             any resultant damage to the Product that arises from one or more conditions described in (i) to (iv) above; 

C.            This Accidental Screen Damage Cover operates on a reimbursement basis, meaning that you must pay for the repair or replacement first and then you may claim reimbursement from AIG HK up to HK$1,000.

D.            Accidental Screen Damage Cover only applies to one event of screen damage.

E.            For the avoidance of doubt, Accidental Screen Damage Cover only covers the repair and replacement costs of the screen. There is no coverage whatsoever for any loss or damage to person or property, direct, consequential or incidental damages arising from the use of or inability to use the Product. Further Accidental Screen Damage Cover does not cover any defects which are subject to a manufacturer’s recall or which are covered under a manufacturer’s program or reimbursement.

F.             If the screen of your Product is damaged by Accident and other parts of your Product are also damaged by Accident, then you will have to bear the costs of repair or replacement of the non-screen elements which have been so damaged. If, in these circumstances, you do not wish to pay for the repair or replacement of the non-screen elements and this renders it impossible to repair or replace the screen, then there will be no coverage for the screen under this Accidental Screen Damage Cover.

G.            To be able to process your claim, you will have to provide i) a completed claim form, ii) your Original Receipt/Invoice or a written confirmation of Wilson for the purchase of your Product iii) the receipt for the cost of your repair of replacement; and iv) the repairer’s service report, to AIG HK within 30 days of having your Product repaired or replaced.  Without these, you will not be able to make a claim. H.            Coverage for Accidental Screen Damage for a product ends either when i) you make a claim from AIG HK for Accidental Screen Damage and your screen is repaired or replaced: or ii) when the Period of Cover expires, whichever happens first.

I.              You appreciate that Wilson makes no representations and offers no advice on the suitability of this coverage, nor does it hold itself out in any way to be in a position to provide such advice. This cover is automatically provided to you by AIG HK on your purchase of the designated Product.
