Only the property owners can insure fire insurance in Hong Kong. If you are a tenant, unfortunately you are not eligible to apply. However, you can purchase Section 1 of the Premium Home Plus - Enhanced Version to protect your household contents.
The property insured for building structure insurance is limited to a building for pure residential use. Buildings for commercial use are not applicable.
Yes. Fire insurance does not protect the mortgage provider only. If there is damage to the building structure (by natural disaster or man-made damage), fire insurance will cover you and make you worry-free.
It depends on the size of the property, the premium will be varied depending on the insured amount.
Yes, the fire insurance section can be purchased separately. Please select ‘II. Building Structure Only’ in Coverage Type when you quote online, or you can fill in the second part of the Premium Home Plus – Enhanced Version proposal form.
The premiums required for properties with different uses of buildings vary. Fire insurance for tenement buildings and village houses is more expensive. The higher the age of the building, the higher the premium.
