Yes, our household insurance covers physical loss or damage to your household contents caused by rainwater seepage due to tropical cyclone warning signal no. 3 or above or rainstorm warning signal “Amber” or above.
Yes, village houses or individual houses can be covered by AIG Home insurance. Please click here to Buy Now.
Yes, we offer worldwide coverage (including USA/Canada) for personal legal liability arising from lawsuit based on bodily injury suffered by a third party and damage to a third-party property due to your negligence. The cover also includes legal costs awarded against you as property owner or as tenant, for damages caused to a third party or your neighbour in case of unexpected incidents. Your potential financial obligations or those of your family members living in the insured property including any settlement with the claimant adjudicated by the court and the legal defence costs are protected, subject to liability being established under Hong Kong laws and jurisdiction.
Yes, building structure insurance (fire insurance) can be added to the household contents cover as optional cover or on standalone basis for homeowner. You can enjoy 5% discount off for insuring Household Contents cover together with Building Structure “All Risks” cover with us. If you require fire insurance only, please select 'Building Structure Coverage Only' in Coverage Type when you purchase it online. Please note that AIG Home Insurance covers building structure by the insured property’s rebuilding cost. For insured premises with mortgage, the maximum limit payable to the mortgagee under this Section is up to the mortgage loan amount as declared or the rebuilding cost, whichever is the lower.
If you want to protect your own property inside the rental premises, your valuables, personal effects and your personal liability worldwide, you are recommended to buy AIG Home Insurance. AIG Home Insurance even covers the damage to the owner’s property caused by you. You may buy Section 1 to cover your household contents.
Please note that since you are not the owner of the insured property, you are not qualified to apply for building structure insurance policy.
Other than the building structure insurance policy, you may also need a home contents insurance policy to cover your renovations, furniture and electrical appliances, fixtures and fittings in the rent-out property. Most importantly, AIG Home Insurance covers your legal liability arising from the insured property, and lawsuit based on bodily injury suffered by a third party or damage to a third-party property.
Your lender probably required you to purchase a fire insurance policy as a condition of your mortgage loan. The aim of this was primarily to protect your lender’s interest in the property as the mortgage provider against fire risks, which focuses on the physical structure of the property, commonly known as fire insurance.
In addition to damage covered by fire insurance (such as floor, ceiling and pipes), your home contents (such as furniture, electrical appliances and valuables) and personal effects may still be at risk. AIG Home Insurance does not only help you prevent such risks, but also cover for bodily injury suffered by a third party or damage to a third-party property.
You do not need to cancel the existing policy. You only need to send a request to AIG Insurance Hong Kong Limited at cs.hk@aig.com to change the address, including the effective date and details of the new flat.
